St. Vincent – Daddy’s Home

Musically, you could even consider it a tribute to the vinyl sounds of 1970s New York funk and soul that her father raised her with, which is a totally different sound than we’re used to hearing from her. Read the entire review by clicking on the image.

The King’s Parade – Waves

And to start with the title of the seventh song on the album; ‘Is it me?’ How worth the wait ‘Waves’ was! The album contains ten very well thought out and crafted songs that take you textually through the waves of life. You can hear lyrics about happiness, regret, fear, discoveries and sadness. LISTEN THIS WEEK:

Every week we highlight a few songs that you should absolutely listen to. In week 19 these are:

Tusky – We’re Going Out Again

Genre: punk rock
FFO: Fangclub, Paceshifters
Listen because: this song will bring you back to the times with a well-aimed slap in the face. We are ready for action after hearing this song!

Wombo – Situations

Genre: post punk
FFO: PACKS, Mia Joy
Listen because: situations is somewhat unpolished yet catchy post punk. It starts as an eighties avant pop song after which rattling guitars intermittently whine and the song is over before you know it.

Alida – Slow Motion

Genre: singer-songwriter
FFO: Angel Olsen, Billy Marten
Listen because: with her dreamy vocals, repetitive guitar melody and wavy synths she takes you to a place where life comes to a halt, where the days repeat themselves and where time seems to pass in slow motion.
